A scaling approach to size effect modeling of J CDF for 20MnMoNi55 reactor steel in transition temperature region

Ever since the 1980s there is a sustained interest in size effect, as one of most pronounced consequences fracture mechanics. In present study, investigation effect focused on estimation Weibull cumulative distribution function (CDF) critical value J-integral (Jc) transition temperature region under constraint small statistical sample size. Specifically, Jc experimental data correspond to C(T) specimen testing reactor pressure-vessel steel 20MnMoNi55 at only two geometrically-similar sizes. Thus, simple approximate scaling algorithm has been developed tackle CDF these circumstances. Due specific form two-parameter CDF, F(Jc | ?, ?), procedure applied according two-step scheme. First, Jc-scaling performed ensure overlap points that = ?) 1 ? 1/e ? 0.632 for different widths (W), which assumes ?·W? const. Second, F-scaling equality slopes scaled (F·W? vs. Jc·W?) space.
